To support your students as they begin to explore their higher education choices, we offer a number of presentations in schools and colleges. Our presentations are primarily aimed at post-16 students, but we are equally keen to engage with their parents and families to ensure they are kept up to date with the most relevant advice and guidance.
All of our presentations are adaptable and can be tailored to the specific needs of your students. We also work with teachers and careers advisers to create bespoke presentations for institutions.
Each presentation lasts approximately 45 minutes and includes interactive activities and/or worksheets. Our talks include:
- Why Go to University?
- An Introduction to University
- Information for Parents
- Choosing the Right Course at the Right University
- The UCAS Process
- Writing a Personal Statement
- How to: Make the Most of Year 12
- Standing Out and Preparing for Interview and Success
- Student Life
- Student Finance
- The University of Lincoln: World Leading Research
We are regularly requested to visit schools and colleges on a more informal basis, holding an information stand in a busy area of an institution for all or part of a day. In addition to bespoke information about the University of Lincoln, we provide general information about Higher Education.
We are also happy to attend HE Fairs, Careers Fairs, Progression Days, Parents Evenings and other events at your school or college.
Our Subject Specific Master Classes offer schools and colleges the opportunity to have an academic visit and deliver a subject-specific master class. The aim is to provide students with a taste of what it is like to study a subject at university level and helps them choose their course at university.
Aimed at post-16 students, our Master Classes take the form of a seminar, lecture or workshop, depending on the subject area, and typically run for one hour, although they can be made to run for longer if necessary. The sessions are designed by the academic who will be delivering the class and, if requested, can be specifically tailored to the needs of students and the curriculum to support them in their current studies.
To speak to a member of the team about Subject Specific Master Classes, please fill out an online enquiry form below.
Academics at the University of Lincoln are very keen to visit your students and share their specialised subject knowledge and research expertise. Academics are available to visit within class time, after school and at schools events (all subject to timetable availability).
Please contact us for more information and to discuss subject areas in more depth.
At the University of Lincoln we are very keen to raise the aspirations of younger learners to give them an insight into what higher education can offer them in the future.
If you are holding a specific event for students from Years 9 – 11, or you want us to come to you and talk to your students about ‘Life at university’ or ‘Why go to university?’ or similar, then please contact us.
