Information and advice for prospective students from Bangladesh

As one of the UK’s leading modern universities, students from more than 100 countries apply to the University of Lincoln each year for degree level studies.

To help you prepare, the following information provides guidance on the entrance requirements you will need to meet, alongside further information in support of your application.


Entry Requirements

Prospective students from Bangladesh are required to meet the following University of Lincoln entrance requirements:

Foundation Entry

Successful completion of the High School Certificate with an overall grade of 50% with passes in 4 or more subjects such as Maths and Sciences.

International Year One

3 term programme: successful completion of the High School Certificate with an overall grade of 60%. Please note that Maths and Physics with a minimum grade of 60% is required for engineering.

3.5 and 4 term programmes: successful completion of the High School Certificate with an average grade of 55%.

Undergraduate Entry

Students require one of the following qualifications for entry into year one of an undergraduate degree:

  • Good grades at Higher Secondary School Certificate level in addition to successful completion of a recognised International Foundation Course
  • Between 27 and 34 International Baccalaureate (IB) points depending on the course you wish to apply for. Specific information on IB requirements can be found on individual undergraduate course pages.
  • A–Level qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Arts / Science / Commerce (Pass) will be considered for entry onto an undergraduate course.

Advanced Entry (Undergraduate)

Depending on your academic background and intended course of study, it may be possible to apply for advanced entry into year two or three of an undergraduate course. For more information, please contact the International Admissions team: intadmissions@lincoln.ac.uk.

Postgraduate Entry

Masters

Prospective students require one of the following qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a 4 year Bachelors degree with minimum of 60% overall from a private or public university which is ranked ‘good’ by the University Grants Commission.
  • Succesful completion of a Masters degree (from a recognised institution) preceded by a 3 year Bachelor degree

PhD

Successful completion of a Masters Degree and an acceptable research proposal.

English Language Requirements

Students require a minimum IELTS of 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band score) or equivalent. Please note that some courses require a higher score.

Students who do not meet the above English language requirements may be eligible for entry onto a Pre Sessional English and Academic Study Skills (PEASS) course.

Fees and Funding

Tuition Fees

University of Lincoln students are required to pay tuition fees for each year of their course. Further information regarding tuition fees, fee status and how to pay can be found on our International Tuition Fees page.

Scholarships

Each year, we are delighted to award a number of scholarships to academically gifted students from across Bangladesh. Depending on your academic ability and intended programme of study, there are a range of scholarships which may be available. 

For 2018/19, the following scholarships are available to suitably qualified students from Bangladesh:


Undergraduate Scholarships

  • £2,000 Undergraduate Scholarships available to students enrolling onto the first year of an undergraduate degree*
  • £1,000 Scholarships available to students entering onto an undergraduate final year ‘top up’ programme (e.g. year 3 entry)*
  • Engineering Bursaries: Global industry leader Siemens offers a number of generous Bursaries to BEng and MEng Engineering applicants. For more information, please visit the Engineering Bursaries page.

 

Postgraduate Scholarships

  • £2,000 Global Merit Scholarships available to students enrolling onto a postgraduate (taught or masters by research) *

*This is an automatic scholarship which will be awarded to you if you meet the requirements.
