Information and advice for prospective students from South Korea

As one of the UK’s leading modern universities, students from more than 100 countries apply to the University of Lincoln each year for degree level studies.

To help you prepare, the following information provides guidance on the entrance requirements you will need to meet, alongside further information in support of your application.

Entry Requirements

Prospective students from South Korea are required to meet the following University of Lincoln entrance requirements:

Foundation Entry

Students who have successfully completed the Korean High School graduation equivalency exam with 60%+ (including relevant subjects) may be eligible for entry onto a Lincoln International Study Centre Foundation Programme.

Alternatively depending on High School grades, it may be possible to enter onto a Lincoln International Study Centre International Year One Course.

Undergraduate Entry

Students require one of the following qualifications for entry into year one of an undergraduate degree:

  •  A Junior College Diploma:

    260-280 points = Grade C / (BCC - BBC = Grade C)
    300-320 points = Grade B / (BBB – ABB – Grade B) 

  • Successful completion of a recognised International Foundation Course with a minimum of 55% overall
  • Between 27 and 34 International Baccalaureate (IB) points depending on the course you wish to apply for. Specific information on IB requirements can be found on individual undergraduate course pages.

Advanced Entry (Undergraduate)

Depending on your academic background and intended course of study, it may be possible to apply for advanced entry into year two or three of an undergraduate course. For more information, please contact the International Admissions team:

Postgraduate Entry


Entry requirements for postgraduate (master degree) programmes vary by course although prospective students from South Korea typically require a Bachelors degree from a recognised institution with a 2:2 (75-79%) or 2:1 (80%+).

Successful completion of a Masters Degree with a suitable research proposal.

English Language Requirements

Students require a minimum IELTS of 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band score) or equivalent. Please note that some courses require a higher score.

Students who do not meet the above English language requirements may be eligible for entry onto a Pre Sessional English and Academic Study Skills (PEASS) course.

Fees and Funding

Tuition Fees

University of Lincoln students are required to pay tuition fees for each year of their course. Further information regarding tuition fees, fee status and how to pay can be found on our International Tuition Fees page.


Each year, we are delighted to award a number of scholarships to academically gifted students from across South Korea. Depending on your academic ability and intended programme of study, there are a range of scholarships which may be available.

For 2018/19, the following scholarships are available to suitably qualified students from South Korea:

Undergraduate Scholarships

  • £2,000 Undergraduate Scholarships available to students enrolling onto the first year of an undergraduate degree*
  • £1,000 Scholarships available to students entering onto an undergraduate final year ‘top up’ programme (e.g. year 3 entry)*


Postgraduate Scholarships

  • £2,000 Global Merit Scholarships available to students enrolling onto a postgraduate (taught or masters by research) programme with a minimum of a 2:2 (75-79%) (or equivalent)*

*This is an automatic scholarship which will be awarded to you if you meet the requirements.
