Ever wondered what it's like to go into space? We are delighted to announce that you can find out more in a one off lecture with one of the UK’s most experienced astronauts and Lincolnshire-born, Michael Foale.
Michael Foale will share stories and personal videos of his captivating space adventures during his 26-year career at NASA. From space missions to fixing damaged space stations, Michael has a wealth of experiences to share at this special event aimed at all ages.
Foale was born in Louth, Lincolnshire, went to school in Canterbury, Kent, and received his Astrophysics PhD from the University of Cambridge. Following a move to the US, he joined NASA in 1987 and went on to specialise in crew rescue and integrated operations for the International Space Station. He is credited with saving the Russian Mir Space Station when it was tumbling out of control, a mission which saw him stay in space for 145 days. Foale has logged over 374 days in space including four space walks totalling 22 hours and 44 minutes.
