Are You Eligible for Financial Support?
Students are classified as either 'Home', 'EU', 'Channel Islands' or 'Overseas' for Tuition Fees and Student Financial Support purposes. A detailed schedule of the categories into which students can fall in order to be eligible for 'Home' status can be found at http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/student/fees_student_support.php
The main eligibility criteria for 'Home/EU' are that students must have:
- UK/EU citizenship/nationality, have been domiciled in the UK for 3 years prior to 1 September 2008 (the main reason for residing in the UK must not have been for the purpose of full-time education) or;
- been granted refugee status by the UK Government or;
- been granted “indefinite leave to remain”, discretionary leave to remain” or “humanitarian protection” by the UK Home Office or;
- UK/EU citizenship/nationality and have been domiciled in European Economic Area (EEA) for 3 years prior to 1 September 2008 (the main reason for residing in the EEA must not have been for the purpose of full-time education).
You will be considered to be 'Overseas' unless you are in one of the above categories.
