Can I defer my application (gap year)?
We welcome applications from students who are planning on taking a gap year. You still need to apply by 15 January but you will need to indicate on your UCAS application that you wish to be deferred. We will be interested to read in your personal statement how you intend to spend the year.
Will I be required to attend an interview?
Interviews are not a pre-requisite for admission for the majority of our undergraduate courses. However, some departments may request an interview, particularly in the subjects of art and design, health and social care and sciences. The University will contact you if you are required to attend an interview.
What does my offer mean?
There are two types of offer we can make on your application. A conditional offer means that your place is subject to you achieving the entry requirements set by the University. An unconditional offer means that you have already fulfilled the entry requirements and we are happy to offer you a place.
When all of your chosen universities have decided whether to offer you a place, UCAS will contact you with details of how to reply to these offers.
How can I track my application?
Once you have completed your application, you can use UCAS Track to keep up-to-date with the progress of your application and reply to your offers.
What happens once I have accepted my offer?
Once you have accepted our offer, we will contact you again on receipt of your examination results. If you have met the conditions, we will send you an induction pack which will contain all the information you need to begin your studies in September. If your original offer was unconditional, you can expect to receive your induction pack in August.
What happens if my application is unsuccessful?
If your application is unsuccessful you will be able to view the reason for rejection on UCAS Track. If you are unhappy either about the way in which your application has been processed or about a decision not to be offered a place, please refer to our Admissions Policy for further guidance.
What fee will I be asked to pay?
Students are charged different fees depending on whether they are classed as ‘home/EU’ or ‘overseas’. We will usually be able to determine your status from the information provided on your UCAS application form. If there is any doubt we will ask you to complete a fee status questionnaire which should provide the additional information we need.
