The First Week
The wait is over, the accommodation is sorted, the bags are packed, make sure they have everything and give them a last hug, for a while at least. What happens now?
During the first few weeks, staff and existing students will offer a warm welcome to new students. Students Services will be on hand to help in any way they can. The Students' Union play a big role in helping new students to settle in by organising events during Freshers Week..
What is Freshers' Week?
Freshers' week is the first week of the new academic year. It is a time the University allows for new students to find their way around and make new friends.
They can join clubs and societies at the Freshers' Fair. There are also lots of social activities organised by the Students' Union.
Students will be meeting people from all walks of life and from all over the world, the friends they make at University will often last a lifetime.
The business side of starting university is also taken care of during Freshers' Week. Students will need to register for their course, organise their accommodation and payment of their tuition fees. Great efforts are made by everyone in the University to make sure new students feel welcomed and settle as easily as possible.
