English Language Support

The English Language Centre (ELC) provides a range of English Language, academic and social support for international students at the University of Lincoln.

As an international student, you may find that the teaching, learning and assessment style in the UK is very different to that of our own country. The ELC is on hand to help you understand the UK academic culture and to provide you with opportunities to help you to succeed on your course.

The English Language Proficiency Test

The University of Lincoln's English Language Proficiency Test can be used as evidence of language proficiency.

It may be possible for students wishing to attend the University of Lincoln to undertake an English Language Proficiency Test on campus, which could be used as evidence of English Language ability.

You must hold a conditional offer to study at the University in order to apply for this. Please note that test results are not transferable to another institution.

The English Language Proficiency Test is not a substitute for the university’s Pre-sessional English and Academic Study Skills (PEASS) courses which may be more suitable for a prospective student.

The tests will take place at the University’s Brayford Pool Campus on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 7 March 2018
  • Wednesday 11 April 2018
  • Wednesday 2 May 2018
  • Wednesday 6 June 2018
  • Wednesday 11 July 2018
  • Wednesday 1 August 2018
