The Lincoln School of Computer Science (LSoCS) has a rapidly growing international research reputation – we scored highly in the RAE2008 with 85% of our research ranked at international quality or better, and with 15% ranked in the highest “world-leading” category. We conduct a blend of fundamental, applied and inter-disciplinary research and have particular strengths in robotics, computer vision, social computing, and many aspects of computer gaming. Our year-on-year growth continues to gather pace – in autumn 2009 alone we welcomed 10 new contract research staff and PhD students to join the existing research workers in the School.

Our research is organised through two Research Centres: in Vision and Robotics (CVARR) and Social Computing (LiSC), as well as smaller Research Groups in Digital Content Analysis and Computer Education.
