BBC TO POSE SPORTING QUESTIONS ON CAMPUS
Top BBC sports broadcaster John Inverdale is to present ‘Any Sporting Questions’ live from the Lincoln campus of the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside this summer.
The BBC Radio 5 Live sports chat show will be broadcast from the Jackson Lecture Theatre on the evening of Tuesday 11th July 2000. Free tickets for the event will be given out on a first come, first served basis.
The host of ‘Any Sporting Questions’ is John Inverdale, a local lad who started his career reporting local government meetings for the Lincolnshire Echo before joining BBC Radio Lincolnshire in 1982.
He was one of BBC Radio 5 Live’s first presenters and also fronted BBC2's Rugby Special on Sunday afternoons.
University spokesman Jez Ashberry is looking forward to the broadcast.
“Eighteen months ago the Lincoln campus played host to Jonathan Dimbleby and BBC Radio 4’s ‘Any Questions?’ programme. This second broadcast will really put the university on the map as a credible venue for major broadcast events,” he said.
“It will give us great pleasure to welcome John Inverdale back to Lincoln, the city where he began his career. And the broadcast will be doubly appropriate as in four months’ time we will be opening our brand new £5.5 million sports facility on campus.”
‘Any Sporting Questions’ tours venues across the UK and gives ordinary the people the opportunity to question four sports celebrities live on air.
