In Memory of Andrew Stevenson
The Andrew Stevenson Award was created by Andrew Stevenson's parents and family in his memory to recognise an exceptional student each year that has shown the spirit of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship within their business/idea.
Andrew was Director of Research & Enterprise at the University of Lincoln and led the department that supported all research and enterprise activity across the institution, including: research grant support; business start-up & growth; technology transfer; funding partnerships; knowledge exchange; employer engagement and careers & employability.
He helped to nurture new businesses around the city of Lincoln through incubation centres, helped to combat a skills shortage and set up new communication channels to bring Lincolnshire organisations together. Through setting up partnerships with companies like Siemens, he was able to help tackle the skills shortage in the region and loved the feeling of helping both businesses and graduates find the right positions.
He loved the variety. He was hugely excited by the fact that he got involved with everything from the Science and Innovation Park and doing startup work on that for the university, through to careers and employability work that helped to get graduates into the careers they wanted. He found it fantastically rewarding. He also got to help the universities academics secure research grant income through to investor network projects.
He once said “the variety and the opportunities my work gives me, to meet with different people and to do different things, is what gets me up in the morning and keeps me going.”
