The John Kelly Prize
In Memory of John Kelly
It is with great sadness that we announce that John Kelly passed away on Thursday 7th November 2024 after a short illness. This news comes as a terrible shock to the Law School community, and we keep John’s family and friends in our thoughts at this difficult time.
John worked at the University since 2009, and thousands of Lincoln students have benefited from his teaching and mentorship over that time. Prior to joining the University, John had practised at the criminal Bar and brought substantial experience and expertise in criminal law and criminal evidence. John taught and supported students in the skills of advocacy and courtroom etiquette, travelling with our students to many mooting competitions, and organising several internal mooting and mock trial events. John was passionate about law and was module leader for Constitutional Law and The Law of Evidence for many years, also teaching many other modules in the School. John was invariably friendly, kind and patient and had a wealth of knowledge and experience. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and the whole Law School community.
The John Kelly Prize in the Law of Evidence
We would like to create a prize in memory of John which will be awarded to the student who achieves the highest mark in the module each year. Gifts given below in memory of John will fund this prize and support students in Lincoln Law School.
