How You Study

The degree is taught through specialist modules. In the modules you can focus on general business subjects to create a base of knowledge. This knowledge can then be built on through modules which aim to help you develop a greater expertise in global business.

Whether it's undertaking group projects or discussion in seminars, there are opportunities across the course to interact and collaborate with other students on your course. You will also be expected to undertake independent study across the course.

You may have the opportunity to listen to guest speakers or engage with industry mentors. These sessions are designed to help you gather the information you need to make an informed decision about your future career path.

Modules

Module Overview

This module is designed to enable students to develop academic and professional skills. To gain a UK perspective on academic writing and research skills and enhance professional skills including communication, career planning and relationship building. The module can enhance the students' understanding of the UK graduate job market and the skills they need for meeting employer requirements and securing a job. Assessments enable the students to practice their academic writing and map their skills and competences based on the analysis of job descriptions and practise interview and presentation skills. In addition students will reflect on their experience of studying overseas.

Module Overview

In this module, you can build a comprehensive understanding of leadership in diverse and dynamic global environments. Leadership is explored with a focus on sustainable practices and team development, and you can cover topics such as sustainable business practices, ethical leadership, people development, and adaptability in multicultural contexts. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of navigating the complexities of global business and the development of high-performing, diverse teams.

This module explores four key themes: business in the global environment, strategies for business in a global environment, addressing interlinked global challenges, and shaping international business activities. Through this module you can critically evaluate contemporary issues that international businesses experience, such as social responsibilities, sustainability, and governance.

Globalisation has transformed the business landscape, creating new interactions and interdependence among nations and altering governmental roles. This module aims to enhance students' understanding of the complexities affecting international business. Students will learn key concepts and theories, developing the skills to assess opportunities and costs of international expansion. By promoting a cross-cultural perspective, the course prepares students for effective teamwork in diverse environments and deepens their understanding of the dynamics of internationalisation.

Module Overview

Global leadership competence such as cultural awareness, intercultural communications, strategic thinking and global mindset are highly valuable skills in today’s competitive workforce.

The Global Leadership module gives you a real-world context through which to explore leadership in global setting. It also allows you to recognise, reflect, and articulate the important academic and personal development gained from the module to enhance your employability skills which you could also apply back home.

You can gain better understanding of how to effectively lead globally by exploring the different leadership theories and approaches relevant to global leadership such as sustainable leadership, social change model of leadership, and ethical leadership. You can also gain insight on how culture affects ones leadership style.

This module equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of formulating and implementing strategies in a global business environment. As organisations increasingly operate across borders, understanding how to achieve and sustain competitive advantage internationally is vital.

The module explores core strategic management concepts, including environmental and internal analysis, competitive advantage, corporate and business-level strategies, international and global strategies, and international market entry modes. Students will also engage with key frameworks to evaluate national competitive advantage and cultural dimensions to address cross-cultural challenges related to international strategies. Topics such as ethics, corporate social responsibility, and strategy implementation provide a holistic view of international strategy.

Through this module, students will develop the ability to analyse dynamic global markets, solve complex strategic problems, and design innovative strategies for international growth. They will enhance their cultural awareness, learn to assess ethical considerations, and reflect critically on their learning journey.

By the end of the module, students will be able to conduct comprehensive situational analyses, craft and justify international strategies, and propose actionable implementation plans, preparing them for careers in international business and consultancy. This module fosters critical thinking, creativity, and strategic acumen in a global context.

How you are assessed

Assessments on the course are varied. Most modules include formative assessments, but may also include reports, essays, presentations, group work, projects, podcasts, or posters. We aim to provide feedback and marks on assessments within 15 days of submission, and you can discuss feedback with course tutors.

Entry Requirements 2025-26

Entry Requirements

This course is designed for students who wish to top-up their existing qualification to a full Bachelor's degree. We will recognise appropriate qualifications from countries outside the UK.

Ideally your qualification should be in a business-related discipline. However, other disciplines will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

General academic requirements:

To join Year 2, you must have completed the equivalent of one year UK undergraduate study (120 CATS/60 ECTS) with the equivalent of a minimum of a 2:2 classification.

To join Year 3, you must have completed the equivalent of two years UK undergraduate study (240 CATS/120 ECTS) with the equivalent of a minimum of a 2:2 classification.

Examples of entry criteria include:

- Students who have completed SQA Advanced Diploma with an overall average of B from either 2 or 3 graded units, depending on subject.

- Students who have successfully completed their 2-3 year or 5-year College Diploma with an average grade of 75% or above.

- Students who have completed 3 years of 4-year University degree with an overall grade of 70% or above.
