Your Post-arrival Checklist

Once you've arrived in Lincoln, there's just a few more important tasks to complete. This page runs through the essential and recommended tasks that you'll be able to complete once you're on campus.

Essential Tasks

1

Collect Your Student ID Card

Your Student ID card is an essential part of university life. You will need it to access buildings or take books out from the library. Student card collection will be on campus during Welcome Week and you must be fully enrolled before you can collect your card. For more information on where and when to collect your Student ID card can be found on our card collection page.

2

Download the Students' Union App

The Students' Union app is the easiest way to access all the services and events offered by your Students' Union. To attend Freshers Week events, including our sports and society fayres, you will need to download this app. We recommend downloading it as soon as possible to stay updated and access everything in advance.

3

Register with the Health Centre

If you are unable to register before you arrive in Lincoln, you can always do this during your first few weeks in Lincoln. You can do this online or by visiting the on-campus surgery located next to the Wellbeing Centre.

4

Download the UniLincoln app

If you’ve not done this yet, download the UniLincoln app as soon as you can, it will be your essential companion to university life. You can use it to check your timetable, record attendance, and explore all that the University of Lincoln has to offer.

Recommended Tasks

1

Get Settled in Your Accommodation

Students living in University-managed accommodation are invited to attend a welcome talk on the evening of their arrival, where our Accommodation Services Team will share helpful information such as what to do if you get locked out and how to access laundry. Event details will be shared along with your arrival information. For any other questions or concerns, the Residence Life and Accommodation Teams are here to help.

Bonus: Set Up Your WIFI

One of the first things you will want to do when moving into your new home is set up WiFi. You can find out more about how to do this in our guide on how to access the student halls network.

2

Join a Sports Team or Society

Become an active part of the #wearelincoln community by joining a sports team or society. This is a great way to meet new people, develop new skills, and make the most of your university experience. Whether you're into football, drama, gaming, or photography, there's usually something for everyone. Engaging in these extracurricular activities can enhance your overall student experience.

3

Explore Job Opportunities

For many new students, finding a job is a top priority, which is why our Careers and Employability Team will be hosting events, such as a part-time jobs fayre during Welcome Week. You will be able to find out about the job opportunities the University offers and what other jobs are available to students locally. You may want to set up a LinkedIn account ahead of your arrival, but the team can help you with this if you need it.

4

Request a Student Status Letter

The Student Support Centre can provide a variety of confirmation of study letters for you, often called a ‘Certificate of Study’. These letters confirm you are studying at the University of Lincoln and include the name of your course and your start and end dates. They can be used to prove you are a student if you want to open a student bank account.

5

Join UniBuddy Community

It’s never too late to join UniBuddy and start meeting new people. When you join you can be added to chats with course-mates, flat-mates, or chats based on your interests.
