Introduction
The Certificate of Higher Education in English is a one year programme of study which aims to introduce students to narrative, poetry, drama, popular culture, literary history, and literary criticism. Students have the opportunity to explore a lively and varied collection of texts within their historical and theoretical contexts.
Modules
All Level 1 modules of the BA (Hons) English programme must be successfully completed for the award of the Certificate of Higher Education. The programme has been designed to give students the opportunity, upon completion, to progress directly into Level 2 of the full degree programme.

The BA (Hons) English course aims to enable students to develop skills in reading closely and discriminately, writing concisely, presenting complex information in a confident manner, and thinking critically. Many go on to careers in publishing, journalism, advertising, public relations, the civil service, and communications. Some have undertaken qualifications in teaching.
