Introduction
The Certificate of Higher Education in Journalism Studies is a one year programme of study, which aims to introduce students to the key journalistic skills needed to tell stories on the most appropriate platform using traditional, digital, and mobile media. Students are also introduced to law and politics, and can explore journalistic practices and institutions, utilising the theories of journalism studies and other related media theoretical concepts.
Modules
All Level 1 modules of the BA (Hons) Journalism Studies programme must be successfully completed for the award of the Certificate of Higher Education. The programme has been designed to provide students with the opportunity, upon successful completion, to progress directly into Level 2 of our full degree programmes including BA (Hons) Journalism, BA (Hons) Journalism and Creative Writing, BA (Hons) Journalism and Public Relations, and BA (Hons) Journalism Studies.

Assessment
The way you will be assessed on this course will vary for each module. It could include coursework, such as an essay, written and practical exams, portfolio development, group work or presentations to name some examples. The University of Lincoln's policy on assessment feedback aims to ensure that academics will return in-course assessments to you promptly – usually within 15 working days after the submission date.
Career Opportunities
This programme is designed to provide successful students with the opportunity to progress directly on to our full degree programme. Graduates of the full BA (Hons) Journalism Studies may be well-placed to secure positions at regional, national and international media organisations and press agencies or work in a freelance capacity. Some may use their degree as the basis for a career in PR, business, marketing or education. Lincoln graduates have gone on to work at regional and national outlets, including the BBC, ITV News, ITV Sport, The Daily Mail, Sky Sports News HQ, The Times, magazine brands, and Channel 4 News.
