Course Overview

The Coaching Professional Apprenticeship is a practical, evidence-based course that is beneficial for those who wish to develop their skills to actively listen, provide feedback, and use coaching to advance performance.

Skills Developed: 

  • Strengthen future ways of working by utilising the professionalisation of coaching through one to one, team, and leadership coaching 
  • Enhance professional performance making positive change  
  • Building relationships with people, focussing on listening and questioning skills using emotional and social intelligence in non-judgmental ways

This programme follows the Coaching Professional Apprenticeship standard.

Course length: Typically, 17 months (14 months plus 3 month gateway period)

How You Learn

This course is designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. 

You’ll be taught by dedicated team in an inclusive environment. We’ll also help you to apply your new skills and behaviours to your place of work.

Practical Experience Through Delivering Your Own Coaching Sessions

Reflection on Practice

You will create a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours gained while on programme. This could include short assignments, reflective practice, and evidence of coaching and development.

Applied Learning

This apprenticeship is structured around applied learning. This links your studies to real-world situations within your workplace. Your learning will include:

Applying Your New Skills at Work

Learn from colleagues and complete tasks independently.

Networking With Other Professionals

Engage and collaborate with other professionals, within and outside of your organisation.

Undertaking Coaching to Develop Skills

To fulfil the course requirements a minimum of 20 hours coaching evidence is needed. 

You will progress through the programme creating your portfolio of evidence which will allow you to prepare for and complete your End Point Assessment.

Entry Requirements

Applications can be existing employees looking to develop their careers, or new applicants to the employer.

Applicants must:

  • Have coaching responsibilities in current job role
  • Be over 18
  • Not be in full time education
  • Have the right to abode in the UK
  • Be able to achieve the standard by the end of the programme

Modules

The programme adopts a blended learning approach with modules delivered through a combination of online seminars and online resources.

Year 1 Modules
  • Understanding the skills, principles and practice of effective coaching and mentoring within an organisational context
  • Undertaking effective coaching or mentoring within an organisational context
  • Reviewing own ability as a coach or mentor within an organisational context
  • Building 20 hours of formal coaching evidence

  • Portfolio work
  • End Point Assessment preparation
  • End Point Assessment

To apply for this apprenticeship, you must first have a suitable employer who can support your application. We can support you to encourage your employer to offer an apprenticeship. You will then apply for the programme through them.
