Biological and Life Sciences

Exploring Life from Cells to Ecosystems

The study of life sciences involves examining living organisms and their workings from cells to ecosystems. It includes disciplines, such as biology, biochemistry, ecology, and zoology to help us understand evolution, and interactions between organisms and the world around us. At Lincoln, we offer a wide range of programmes spanning the life sciences, and our academic researchers are undertaking high-profile studies at the forefront of knowledge in the field.

Specialist Facilities

Our Biological and Life Sciences students study in modern, well-equipped laboratories in the University’s Janet Lane-Claypon Building and Joseph Banks Laboratories, as well as in Minster House, which provides specialist laboratories for animal cognition, behaviour, and welfare, including an insectary and a bioacoustics laboratory.

Animal Behaviour Clinic

Our Animal Behaviour Clinic is a referral only clinic for pets and animals of all species with behaviour and training problems. The clinic is run by a small team of highly qualified behaviourists. Teaching on our programmes is informed by research and practice, and students have the opportunity to gain experience through material used in teaching from real cases.
